ROBERT RAUSCHENBERG: AMONG FRIENDS

Posted by on

On Saturday, during a quick girl's getaway to NYC, Clementine and I went to the Museum of Modern Art to see the new "Robert Rauschenberg: Among Friends" exhibition. This was Clem's second trip to the MoMA—her first was back in November 2011, to see the beautiful "Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs" show. That one was perfect for a baby, and this one was perfect for a toddler: the range of mediums, the scale of the art, it all worked to keep her engaged and awestruck. And Mud Muse didn't hurt either—Rauschenberg's rectangular tank featuring 1,000 gallons of bubbling, splattering, gurgling sludge was made for kids who dream of slipping on their rain boots and making a mess.
