Block Shop Textiles Scarf | Sidewinder Pacific
Lily and Hopie Stockman—the sisters behind Los Angeles-based Block Shop Textiles—work closely with a community of master printers in Bagru, India, to design and blockprint their collection of colorful, covetable scarves. Using non-toxic vegetable dyes on the finest blend of Indian 25%/75% silk/cotton, the results are pieces of wearable art. Seen here is Sidewinder, inspired by the sidewinder snake’s undulating tracks in the desert sand. Created using the traditional Bagru process of discharge printing natural grey dye, then overdyeing the whole piece in indigo for their signature Pacific colorway of ink and teal. The scarf measures 34" x 86" and features natural selvedge on the long sides. Please note that variation in printing and color are hallmarks of hand blockprinting with natural dyes, and imperfections should not be considered a defect.
